You only need RM 30 (both are Malaysian) to get married officially in National Registration Department Office, Malaysia.

If you want to invite all your family members to witness your wedding vow, you can make a booking for a ceremony called "On Day of Solemnisation Of Marriage" which is going to have an additional cost of RM 500.  The couple can dressed-up to have their family members for a celebration by choosing a remarkable day as their wedding day, i.e. after 21 days of filling in the registration form and before 6 month.


1.                  REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGE FOR MALAYSIANS

 

Non-Muslim Malaysian citizens who contract marriage outside Malaysia must register the marriage with this office within six (6) months.

 For registration of marriage, both husband and wife must be present at the Consular Office and submit the original and two sets photocopy of each of the following documents:

a)      UK marriage certificate

b)      Malaysian Identity Card (photocopy both sides)

c)      Both Passports with valid UK visa

d)     Birth certificates of both husband and wife 

e)      Two passport size photos

f)      Fee £5.00 (cash) for registration made within six (6) months from the date of marriage

g)       A penalty charge will be imposed for late registration



Muslim Marriages 

We no longer accept any Muslim Marriage Registration since no religious officer has been appointed here. We suggest you to get approval from State Religious Department and get married or done the muslim conversion at any local mosque in the UK. 

After receiving the Muslim Marriage certificate from any mosques, it has to be notarised by Notary Public and Legalised by Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) before we can legalise and issue the supporting documents, which can be used to support your marriage registration in Malaysia. 

To expedite the process, please send by post, the original nikah certificate, copy of both your passport, BRP/Visa and IC with a self-addressed PREPAID envelope. The fee will be £5 per legalisation, payable by cash or postal order to the High Commission of Malaysia.
