My students always have a question. They asked, "How can I read a technical paper effectively?" I told them, "You need to follow the steps below:"
"Step 1: Use your eyes to scan through the technical papers and identify the jargon or vocabulary."
"Step 2: Find out their meaning of the jargon or vocabulary and write them into a list."
"Step 3: Go through the list of jargon and vocabulary with their respective meaning one more time or a few times to excel your level of understanding of the jargon or vocabulary."
"Step 4: Go through the paper slowly and jot down the important meaning of the technical papers. Try to relate the whole technical papers with the respective jargon or vocabulary and their respective meaning."
"Step 5: Repeat the reading process of the technical papers until you fully understand the full content of the technical papers."
"Step 6: Identify the limitation and the ways of improvement which you can provide or contribute to the technical papers."
"Step 7: Identify the research methodology which can be applied directly or indirectly for your finding in Step 6."
"Step 8: Work on the paper publication with the right research methodology and your finding in Step 6. State your contribution how to bridge the gap for the limitation or what are the solutions are which you can contribute quantitatively or qualitatively, do the experiment, simulation and analytical conclusion base on your detail observation and research output."
The end of my sharing. Welcome to the beginning of the research and publication world. I am Hui-Shin Wong or Wong Hui Shin.
