What is a proxy in a business? He or she is the representative of a business, yet, he or she is not the owner.

In year 2018 when I was in United States of America (USA), the major investors told me that I needed not a Founder and CEO position in all my business, yet, a proxy should be good enough to represent me and my business for further miles.
