Majority of the companies would like to train their staff and hopefully, the potential staff can be trained and serve the company as one of the heads or the leader in the organization eventually. This is mainly because the top management, i.e. the old men and old women up there would like to move on to another stage of life when they have achieved something high within an expected period or time. No one is actually eager enough to hold a high position for a very long time until all his/her successors are trying to kill him/her before he/she step down from the position. It is a norm that the new generation will always be expected to take over the old generation's roles with respect and having the attitude to do a better job for the societies and communities. The old men and old women encouraged new blood to move up the leaders' position. They are very supportive.
Many employees are frustrated when they are not getting the promotion as expected. When a person wants to get promotion in his/her career, the 1st thing that he/ she needs to check is his/her credentials and capabilities. The 2nd thing is his/her leadership skills and personal characters. The 3rd question in mind should be the suitability of your talent in your job. Some questions he/ she should ask himself/ herself before he/ she kept on blaming others for not giving any promotion to him/ her or kept on jealous on others achievement. A professional citizen is encouraged here.
1. Have you achieve the KPIs?
If the answer is yes, you should evaluate your leadership skills and your personal characters.
We will talk more about leadership skills and personal characters later. If you have not achieved all the KPIs yet, then, you must really work harder and try not to get involve in any gossips. You should work harder, harder and harder. Remember, reading the newspapers is the best way to obtain information. And, not gossiping within a gang to get to know more information about a country, a nation and the world.
2. Do you have the leadership skills and good personal characters to become a boss?
Some people will never be a boss although they are very capable. The boss must have some good values and unique personal characters. They are positive, optimist with enthusiasm, fair, a critical thinker, knowledgeable, kind, loyal in a relationship and etc. You may spot some low quality bosses especially in developing countries because there are not enough of quality candidates. Those are the bosses with awareness of their quality level, they will continue to learn and be humble against events and incidents.
But, the point I am emphasizing here is the best quality bosses with values. You may spot some good quality bosses when you observe how and what are the content of his/her talks. Kindly take notes some speeches below from quality bosses.
a. "Wow! He/ She has improved a lot." He/ she will not judge people by the cover and he will note the details. The quality of work done in year 2008 definitely better than the quality of work done in year 2007.
b. "Good job! You must put in a lot of efforts. " Necessary compliments and critics must be given.
c. "Check on dates and form a progression chart." He/ She will allocate suitable workload and reasonable due dates for the staff.
d. "You must be really good in public relationship. Would you mind taking up a new challenge to become the Head of the Public Relationship Department?" He/ She appreciates talents and a good Talent Management player.
e. "I am sure you had bad days for your relationship. I suggest that you take a one week off to relax and get yourself ready again for jobs. We need a more positive and confidence staff in one week time. I am sure you will not disappointing me. " He/ She is an emotional human who will understand humans are emotional and no one is perfect in this world. He/ She will evaluate madly on the staffs' good values. He/ She will try to manipulate the good values within an individual to help an organization to move on. He/ She believes that no one is actually useless in this world.
f. "We are going to have a company trip to Venice, Italy this year." He/ She will award the staff by giving suitable praises and awards. Fair bosses are lovely.
g. ......
If you met a lovely boss and he/ she has the intention to bring you up as a leader of the organization, kindly work harder for him/ her. Try to give him/ her credits as well.
