Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment
The Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment was announced in conjunction with the 2011 Merdeka Award Presentation Ceremony by Prime Minister YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

It is designed to make it possible for qualified and deserving Malaysians, between the ages 22-35 to engage in short-term collaborative projects/programmes of up to three months, at an internationally-recognised host institution in select disciplines (education, arts, sports, community/social work, environment, health, science and technology).

The attachment aims to help the recipient build on his or her expertise by undergoing a learning experience in an institution or organisation of international repute, and improving the Grantee's body of work and achievements.

The end goal is to promote thought leadership and innovation, foster a culture of excellence and encourage a world-view.

Please read through the application requirements carefully, and complete the form as required. Please also make every effort to substantiate your application with information that will showcase your expertise and experience in your chosen area of study.

Note that this application is only available online; the Merdeka Award Secretariat will not accept any hard copies or physical applications.

Application Requirements
The grant is awarded to qualified citizens of Malaysia, aged 22 – 35, residing in Malaysia or overseas, in the following fields:
  •     Education and Community
  •     Environment
  •     Health, Science and Technology
Please take note of the following requirements:
  •     For academics, a Master or equivalent professional degree at the time of application in the field in which you are applying.
  •     For professionals and those outside academia, recognised professional standing and substantial professional accomplishments in the field in which you are applying.
Selection process
Upon submission, the Merdeka Award Grant committee will review the applications and shortlist candidates for interviews. You are required to meet all reasonable requests for dates and times for interviews, and are responsible for your own travel arrangements to the interview venue.

Application for the 2016 cycle is from October 1st, 2015 to February 29th, 2016.

Successful applicants will be notified via email and/or phone call.

Award Details
The Award will entitle a Recipient to either ONE of the following:
     a) Full scholarship: covers tuition, living expenses and full waiver on all registration and annual fees.
     b) Bursary: covers tuition fees only.
This Award is not transferable and not redeemable for cash.

Conditions
The Recipient is required to fulfil the following conditions. Failure to strictly observe the conditions contained herein will entitle Yayasan Cemerlang to the right to automatically withdraw the Award without notice.
a) The recipient must not commit any unlawful act(s) or offence(s) punishable by law, or any form of misconduct, in breach of the university’s rules and regulations.
b) The recipient must not to do anything, verbally or otherwise, which could tarnish Yayasan Cemerlang image.
c) The recipient must maintain a study load of at least 15 (fifteen) credit hours in a normal semester and at least 6 (six) credit hours in a short semester.
d) The recipient must maintain Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 every semester.
e) The recipient must not engage be/involved in any misconduct or improper or immoral behavior.
f) The recipient is not allowed to defer or postpone study without the prior written approval of Faculty Dean. Where approval has been obtained, Recipient must submit a copy of the written approval to the Secretariat of Tun Rahah Scholarship Award.
g) The recipient must at all times observe and abide by the university rules and regulations, which may be changed at any time or from time to time.

Non Obligation
Neither the Award nor the Letter of Offer shall be taken as a promise or offer of employment by Yayasan Cemerlang to Recipient, nor will Recipient be required to serve Yayasan Cemerlang under any contract of employment, for any reason or at any time whatsoever.

MNRB Scholarship Fund
The MNRB Scholarship Fund was established by MNRB Holdings Berhad in 1 April 1998 with an objective to assist in the development of the nation’s insurance and takaful industries by enabling promising students to have access to quality education in order to produce quality insurance and takaful professionals for the long term development of the Malaysian insurance and takaful industries.

Since then the Fund has awarded more than 430 bright Malaysians from all races to pursue full-time studies in Actuarial Science, Risk Management and Insurance at local universities. The Fund, in collaboration with the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII), also awards scholarships to employees of the local insurance industry to pursue part-time studies for the Diploma of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (DMII) and the Associateship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII) certifications at MII.

English Essay: Must submit a 1-page handwritten English essay on reasons for applying for the scholarship, benefit from the course of study including education & career plans
Additional Criteria:
  • Applicants must successfully apply for entry into recognized local or overseas institutions of higher learning to pursue the approved courses
  • Preference will be given to those active in co-curriculum activities
  • Must not be a recipient of a scholarship/loan/financial assistance from any other organizations
TRIAL SPM / STPM: Candidates with TRIAL SPM / STPM RESULTS meeting the above criteria are encouraged to apply. Selected candidates will be given provisional scholarship offer subject to the variance between the actual results and the trial results being within an acceptable range

Project description
We offer a fully-funded, 12-months MRes studentship at the Schools of Geography and Biosciences, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. The successful applicant will develop a molecular identification key for the freshwater mussels of Peninsular Malaysia, a severely endangered group of molluscs. The student will be co-supervised by Dr. Alexandra Zieritz and Ass. Prof. Christina Vimala Supramaniam, and receive training in aquatic fieldwork and molecular laboratory techniques.

The successful applicant will receive a stipend of RM 1,600 per month and a tuition fee waiver to the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. The project is funded by the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia.

Requirements
  • Malaysian citizenship (required)
  • First class or upper second class degree (with Honours) (CGPA >3.5) in Science, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Life Sciences or any other related discipline (required)
  • Molecular laboratory work experience in DNA/RNA isolations, cDNA synthesis, PCR and qPCR (desired)
  • Fieldwork experience (desired)
The successful applicant is expected to take up the studentship in February 2016 and no later than April 2016.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Scholarships by International School of Kuala Lumpur
The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) is offering two International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma scholarships which covers tuition fee for the two-year course, inclusive of the external examination fee and other compulsory requirements for its August 2016 intake to deserving young Malaysians who will complete their SPM 2015 examination. This scholarship programme, approved by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia and has been offered since 2002.

With over 20 years of experience, ISKL has the longest running IB Diploma Program in Kuala Lumpur. We offer a wide range of courses, and are proud of our students' historically high exam scores and 98% student pass rate. Our Counseling Office offers academic counseling throughout the Diploma Program.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is a rigorous two-year curriculum culminating in exams in six subjects (three higher level and three standard level).

In addition to the six subjects diploma students will complete a Theory of Knowledge class, an Extended Essay and 150 CAS hours in Creativity, Action and Service.

Students considering the IB Diploma Program should be academically able and motivated, and are able to work hard and organize their time effectively. They will be ready to undertake a challenging course of study.

Musashino University in Tokyo, Japan is offering scholarship to a Malaysian to pursue their 4 year undergraduate program.

The university is offering scholarship as they would like to entice the enrollment of foreign students into their Global Studies faculty. This is in tandem with the Japan recent education initiative of increasing number of foreign students in tertiary education.

Moreover, the University takes on a firm belief that a diversity in the cohort will encourage an exchange of different ideologies and thoughts, thus preparing their undergraduates for a globalized economy in the near future.

Global Studies Faculty is offering Global Business, a 4 year undergraduate course in English. JLPT is not a mandatory prerequisite for this course. Undergraduates will be expected to study Japanese language as part of the course.

Eligibility
Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
a) at least 18 years old as of March 2016
b) completed 12 years of formal education
c) attain at least 61 TOEFL or equivalent
This scholarship is independent of Monbukagakusho scholarship that is offered by MEXT annually.

Applicants who failed the Monbukagakusho scholarship is strongly encouraged to apply for Musashino University Scholarship. A total of about 80 scholarships will be given to foreign applicants.

My blog "Malaysian Footprint" was hacked!

Kindly let me know if you read some funny posts, extreme personal ego or strange passages in this blog (Malaysian Footprint, (http://malaysianfootprint.blogspot.com/).  The blog was hacked and it was used to express a lot of of extreme high ego sentences.  I, Wong Hui Shin or Hui-Shin Wong is a humble and polite person.  It is definitely not what you have read and seen in some blog posts which are indicating something crazy.  Please let me know if you have read something crazy, so that I will amend them or delete them.

I am still single and available.  I do not have a boy friend now.  Some blog posts indicated that I was married.  Well, it was not true.

I am sorry for any crazy postings and any extreme super ego postings.
